What is Iris Folding?

Iris Folding is a papercraft technique that creates a unique design using small folded strips of coloured paper. The aim is to create a design with a focal point or centre that looks like the iris of a camera lens.

Each set in the Gemini Iris Folding Collection includes one shaped aperture die and a reusable printed template.

Follow the numbered sequence on the printed template to layer your paper pieces and take all the difficulty out of Iris Folding!

How to create cards with Iris Folding designs

Here are some step-by-step instructions:

Use a Gemini Die Cutting Machine, create your plate combination using the helpful Sandwich Guide in the instruction manual and die-cut the aperture die from your Iris Folding set.
Place the template on your card front, so the numbers show through the reverse of your cut out design.
Follow the template to place folded paper strips in the numbered sequence shown and secure with tape or adhesive
Turn your card around and voila – a stunning dimensional Iris Folded design!
