How long have you been interested in art?
I got interested in art when I was around 13 years old, so roughly 12 years.
What made you start creating art?
Truthfully, I used to love performing on stage (singing, acting, etc), but I grew ill and lost my voice for a big musical that I had a speaking and singing part in. My voice didn't come out on stage and I grew anxious about ever performing on stage again. Those feelings lead me to quit performing. I switched to visual art and ended up loving it!
What do you enjoy about it?
I like that I can bring my ideas to life. It's really fun to create my own characters and designs! I also enjoy the comfort and satisfaction of colouring images in.
How long have created art in this particular style?
I've been drawing in and developing my style since 2012!
Please tell us about your Adventures in Colour kit
I wanted a nice balance of vibrant colours that could be layered and mixed as well as earth tones so anyone who used the kit didn't feel limited. When it comes to kits, I personally love when they include primary colours and some earth tones! I also wanted to include the colourless blender so users could make light to dark gradients if they desired to.
Which is your favourite drawing included in your kit?
My galaxy and sun girls (Selene and Heli). I've always loved how that specific piece turned out.
What can people expect from the kit?
People can expect to create vibrant coloured images! They can also expect to learn about layering colours over top of each other to make new colours and learn how to use that colourless blender marker (SPOILER - despite the name, the colorless blender marker is not necessarily used to blend two colours together by colouring over top of the two colours you wish to blend - it's a bit more complex than that!)
What is your top tip for creating art using your technique?
Before colouring anything, I highly recommend trying out different layering combinations on a separate sheet of paper. Try out different techniques and really get a feel for the markers! Despite my years of experience, I truthfully still do this to ensure the techniques, I want to use, will work out in my favour!
Whatmade you want to partner with Spectrum Noir and why do you enjoy
using their products?
I was impressed with Spectrum Noir markers after collaborating/reviewing their Tri-Blend markers in 2019! Before then, I was using their sparkle glitter brush pens a lot to add sparkle to my drawings. The vibrancy of their products is so nice and I also like how the alcohol-based markers blend!
What’s your favourite colour combination with the colours in the kit?
I like using the marker tip to tip blending technique to blend Classique Marker shades Orchid LV2, Periwinkle TB2 and Bubblegum MG2 together to make a nice gradient. I think I'm biased though because those colours give me galaxy feels and I absolutely love galaxies!
