A summer crafting party is a wonderful idea if you're passionate about crafts and want to throw a shindig for friends and family. Creating personalised crafting with your friends can make it a special day that none of you will forget.

There's much to consider before hosting so let our article help you plan your summer crafts party. Just read on and learn how to host a craft party today.

Choose a theme

Parties can be more fun when there's a theme. Align yours with the season by choosing one. Why not hold a beach bash or pool party, and encourage your guests to dress accordingly? Use your theme to decorate your room or garden and think of crafting ideas.

Select a venue

The unpredictability of the British weather can make selecting a venue difficult. We recommend hosting it at home with your garden as the first choice and the living room as a backup.

Make sure the venue of your summer crafting party is big enough for your guests and consider umbrellas or gazebos to shield them from unexpected downpours or intense sunny spells.

Choose the craft

Next, pick what you want to do with your guests. The choice is yours and there are so many enjoyable crafts to try. Consider the following options:

    • Art and colouring – Paint, sketch or colour in artwork to create beautiful, vibrant prints that look great around the home.
    • Papercraft – Use a collection of papers and cards, even rice paper, to create handmade 2D or 3D items. Get your guests card making and scrapbooking.
    • Sewing and needlecraft – Create home décor, stuffed animals, bags and more using your sewing and needlework skills.

Plan the guest list

Choose people who are really into handmade creations for great energy on the day. Some friends may already be fellow hobbyists and can help group novices or exchange techniques with you.

Once you've drawn up your guest list, send out invites with key information such as date, time, venue and what to bring.

We suggest showing off your crafting prowess by making the invites yourself using card-making supplies. This can wow guests and get them excited for your summer crafts party.

Prepare crafting supplies

Buy your supplies once you know what you're doing and how many people are attending. We have plenty to get you started so everyone can make their crafting visions a reality.

High-quality crafting requires dedicated space, so set up work stations for each person. Give them enough room to work on their creations and consider investing in craft storage. This makes it easier for guests to find materials and can help when tidying up.

Provide instructions and demonstrations

While some guests may be well-versed in the crafting game, others may be new to it and need support.

We recommend printing or writing down instructions for them to follow and providing a detailed demonstration before they start. Show them techniques and translate terminology they might not understand in the instructions.

Create a fun atmosphere

While crafting is the main event at your summer party, why not elevate the atmosphere further with fun additions? Decorate the space using bunting, fairy lights or fresh flowers, and play music to boost everyone's mood.

Summer get-togethers usually involve food and drinks, so pick up beverages and snacks you know your guests will love.
