Frequently Asked Questions
1  How can I get the CD to print verses in landscape mode?
You can use the notepaper and fold it in half to act as an insert – the designs lend themselves very well to this and the verse writer is fully functioning in the notepaper section. You just need to position the text in the lower half of the sheet, and print your notepaper at A4 size if you’re making an A5 card, or A5 if you’re making an A6 card.
When I’m making inserts for my cards, I sometimes like one of the verses, but it’s not exactly what I was looking for – is there any way I can change it without having to type it all in myself?
Yes of course you can. When you choose your verse and click to select it, it will appear in the box to the left of the screen. In here you can edit the text to suit your requirements – adding your own personal touches and finishing off the verse to suit your occasion.
2  My printer is printing really slow. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
If you find your printer is running slowly then the best option is to update your printer drivers. This shouldn’t take a minute and should give your printer a new lease of life! The easiest way to do this is to search in google for ‘printer drivers’ with the make and model of your printer and this will take you to the manufacturers website where you can click to download the latest versions of the drivers.
3  What version of Windows do your CD's work with?
Our CD's will work with all versions of windows from Windows 98 second edition onwards.
4  Are Crafter’s Companion CD ROMs MAC compatible?
Unfortunately our operating system is not compatible with Apple Macintosh computers. However, you can still access the data files from the CD ROM in .jpeg format and use these with your own graphics package
5  How do I access the data files on the CD?
Simply follow these instructions:
- Click on ‘My Computer’
- You should see the CC logo and the label ‘disk drive’
- Right click and choose open
- Click on data
- The folder should open with access to all of the files on the CD ROM
6  How do I import an image into a another program on my computer?
Please follow the steps in question 55 until you reach the data files. Once you have opened the data file you will need to:
Right click on the folder which contains the image you wish to import.
Once this folder has opened you will need to right click on the design number you want.
Now you need to select open with from the menu and choose the program you wish to import it into.
7  I put my disk into the CD drive and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
It’s possible that your automatic run command on your CD drive is disabled. To make the CD run, go to ‘My Computer’ and double click on the CD ROM disk drive which will force the CD to load.
8  Do you need a graphics program to run Crafter’s Companion CD ROMs?
No not at all, the CD ROM’s have a program built in to make them very easy to use.
9  My printer doesn’t print the whole image, a small portion is cut off at the bottom. How can I stop this?
You need to change the printer settings to decrease the size of the border. Simply click onto the ‘Resize/Position’ button to the left of the screen and this will bring up a set of blue borders around the design. There will be 4 boxes in the centre of the screen, click on the top box 3 times and this will move the whole image up 3mm. Alternatively, drag the bottom border up by 2 millimetres and this should fix the problem. If you’re still not sure how to do this, click onto the help button to access the help-files and select the ‘Resize/Position’ button option for a full tutorial.
10  There are envelopes on the CD’s, how do I make these?
You can use your Enveloper Pro, Ultimate or Ultimate Pro to fold these together by following the instruction booklet included with the tool. Alternatively, for the 5” square and A6 envelopes, simply cut 9cm from the bottom of your printed sheet, and then fold along the edge of the printed line to form an envelope.
