How to organize Chalk Couture products

Have you been bitten by the Chalk Couture bug? If so, you’ve probably accumulated dozens of silk screens/stencils, pots of paint and bunches of the tools you need to create beautiful silk screened projects.
Keeping your Chalk Couture products organized and accessible will ensure you use them regularly.
Let’s start with Stencils.
The first thing you’ll want to do is start a catalog or list of each of the silk screens/stencils you’ve purchased. You can do this easily with an Excel spreadsheet. Group your silk screens together by theme, holiday, sentiment, etc. It’s possible, even likely, that your silk screens will fit into more than one category on your spreadsheet.
For the small silk screens I was able to use our Fab File Pockets – they come in 6 sizes, so you’ll be able to choose the perfect size for each of your stencils.
For the large silk screen I created a pocket out of the packaging that the silk screen was shipped in. (Watch the video above to learn more about how I created the pocket.)
Label the pockets with the same name you used on your spreadsheet.
Choose a Fab File
There are 9 Fab File sizes to choose from. I choose the 12×18 Jumbo Fab File because that was my largest silk screen and I could put all the small silk screens in their pockets in front of the large one. If you’ve got a lot of silk screens, you might want to use 2 or 3 different sizes of Fab Files (5×7, 8.5×11, 12×12) to best fit your collection.
Once I got my silk screens squared away, I moved on to my tools and chalks, inks, etc.
The Edna Buddy Bag is PERFECT!
Just the right size and shape for up to about 6 jars. I only have two at the moment, but I believe 6 will fit. I’ll store them all together now but will probably sort them more by color as my collection grows. The Edna bag is perfect because you can see all the colors easily. You can also stand it up if you want to keep your jars flat.
Last but not least – easy access to my basic tools
The Leanne Buddy Bag is ideal for tools.
Leanne is a little more “beefy” than our other Buddy Bags. She’s got a thicker plastic interior box so she’ll hold a little more weight. She also seals up pretty tightly on all three sides so she’s perfect for containing potentially messy stuff.
Thanks for stopping by today to learn a little more about how I’m organizing my Chalk Couture products.
