Is there anything more special during the Christmas season than decorating your tree? Crafting your own baubles and decorations can help create new traditions and make it feel even more personal.
So, why not get crafty while the weather gets colder outside with this easy and creative craft to make your own paper baubles, that you can easily personalise to make them your own. Follow along with the instructions below!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Paper Pad (we used 12 x 12)
- Ribbon
- Glue gun (or something else adhesive and strong)
- Scissors
- A pencil
- Something circular for tracing
Step-by step instructions
Once you’ve chosen which paper pad to use, place your circular item on top and hold it down while you trace out a circle. Repeat this process until you have six circles or as many as you want to create the ruffles and rounding of your bauble.
Using your scissors, carefully cut out your circles. You can use this time to cut your ribbon into your preferred length to hang from your tree branches.
Fold your circle in half to create a semicircle and using your hot glue gun, place a length of glue along the back of your semicircle fold. Press another folded semicircle to affix them together.
Place a dot of glue at the end of your bauble where you want the ribbon to go, and press one end of the ribbon to it.
Leave it to dry, before placing another dot on the other side of the ribbon, pressing the opposite end to glue it down, creating the loop for the branch.
Finish gluing your semicircles together to create your rounded bauble. At the base of your ribbon, place another dot of glue and affix an embellishment for a finishing touch. We used a crown-shaped one for ours.
