Paper crafting tools like stamps, dies and embossing folders can have a beautiful effect on your pages, cards and other projects, but keeping track of them can be difficult and overwhelming.
The best way to maximize tool use and minimize frustration is to create a catalog. I strongly recommend cataloging (7 reasons to catalog) all your tools together and following the 4 Section System. (You’ll only use 3 sections for cataloging tools, but you can also create a color catalog for markers, paints, inks, etc. – learn more.)
What you will need:
- A binder – I prefer 12×12
- Paper
- Page Protectors
- Adhesive
- Scrap paper for cutting/punching examples
- Crayons – for doing rubbings of your embossing folders
- Label maker or permanent marker
- Label tabs – I prefer the plastic type
Get started by creating a themes and sentiments list, if you’ve participated in the Get Organized Challenge, you can use the list you created for the challenge. If not, you’ll need to create one before you move forward. (Learn more.)
The next step is to create your catalog pages.
Follow the 4 Section System, you’ll need pages for:
- Alphabets & Numbers
- Themes & Sentiments (use your list)
- Holidays & Seasons
Now you’re ready to start cataloging your tools.
